Only re-creating the AVD could help reliably. Sometimes it works, sometimes not on the same AVD.
I always have to start the emulator with the -http-proxy command to get it to work. My ambient: MAC OS ambient + android emulator and parallels windows 7 with fiddler proxy I am using Android Studio 1.0.1 and having proxy in my office system. probably adding port forwarding, but that is a pain too
